Rada Tevfik

Rada Tevfik is a researcher and writer based in Prizren, Kosovo. He studied architecture and sociology at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. His master’s thesis, ‘Encounters Between Railways and Cinema in the Early Twentieth Century: From Agit-Trains to Cine-Trains’ deals with the political imaginary of railways in the early 20th century avant-garde movements. Tevfik co-founded the research and publishing platform Pykë-Presje based in Prizren (www.pykepresje.com), which focuses on the internationalist and revolutionary movements in Kosovo and its surroundings. He wrote articles and curated archival exhibitions on the local socialist and anti-colonialist histories of Kosovo. In 2022, as part of Pykë-Presje, he co-curated an archival exhibition on The Albanian Summer: An Entertainment, a music album produced by the English composer Dave Smith in 1984. The exhibition, produced for Manifesta 14, was accompanied by the book From Scratch: Albanian Summer Picaresque. Currently, Tevfik is working on the rise of post-socialist reason in 1980s Kosovo and its formal registrations in the cinema.
